Shortly after the California Supreme Court overturned the state’s ban on gay marriage in mid-May, Ellen Degeneres announced on her show that she’d be marrying her long time partner Portia de Rossi. According to Us Weekly, the wedding’s going down this weekend in California . . . heh heh heh, I bet that’s not the only thing going down this weekend.
I don’t care if they get a civil union, I object to the word marriage being used to describe even if it is the same thing, because the word marriage defines the union between a man and women, I don’t care if they have the same thing I just don’t want the word marriage used to describe it.
The only exception to me supporting them having the same rights as a marriage is having children which I don’t think should be allowed. And if it’s allowed I don’t think they should be allowed to adopt over a straight couple. I could live with that. Gay marriages are allowed kids, but straight couples get preference over them in adoption. Because a lot of gay couples probably would make good parents. But I’m absolutely concrete on objecting to the word marriage being used to describe their union.
